See the Isle of Lewis with Murdo and/or Carol-Ann, who know it intimately. A trip lasts about four hours and is charged at around £50 for the trip, comfortably for two or three people. They will plan a route around what you would like to see.
Most of the island's best-known sights are within an easy drive of the cottage. The Callanish Standing Stones, a 5,000-year-old circle older than Stonehenge, are about fifteen minutes south. Closer still is the Dun Carloway broch, one of Scotland's best-preserved Iron Age roundhouses, and the restored thatched blackhouses at Gearrannan and the crofting township of Garenin, looking straight out to the Atlantic.
There are quiet surf beaches at Dalmore and Dalbeg a few minutes away, and for a longer day the white sands of Uig, the lighthouse at the Butt of Lewis, or the famous shell beach at Luskentyre on neighbouring Harris. Just ask, and they will take in the spots only locals know along the way.
